ESP32-P4 WIFI6 Development Board Product Overview

The ESP32-P4 WIFI6 Development Board is a RISC-V 32-bit dual-core plus single-core high-performance multimedia development board from Waveshare based on the ESP32-P4 chip. The ESP32-P4 WIFI6 Development Board integrates an ESP32-C6 module as a Wi-Fi 6 co-processor, extending Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5 (LE) wireless connectivity via SDIO interface. The ESP32-P4 WIFI6 Development Board offers rich human-machine interaction interfaces, including MIPI-CSI (with integrated Image Signal Processor ISP), MIPI-DSISPII2SI2CLED PWMMCPWMRMTADCUART, and TWAI. Additionally, the ESP32-P4 WIFI6 Development Board supports USB OTG 2.0 HS and Gigabit Ethernet (RJ45), and features an onboard 40PIN GPIO expansion header compatible with some Raspberry Pi HATs. The ESP32-P4 WIFI6 Development Board's ESP32-P4 chip integrates a Digital Signature Peripheral and a dedicated Key Management Unit to ensure data and operational security. The ESP32-P4 WIFI6 Development Board is designed for high-performance and high-security applications, fully meeting the demands of embedded systems in Human-Machine Interface (HMI) , edge computing, and IO expansion.


ESP32-P4 WIFI6 Development Board Key Features

High-Performance RISC-V Processor Architecture: The ESP32-P4 WIFI6 Development Board is powered by the ESP32-P4 dual-core RISC-V High-Performance (HP) processor at up to 360MHz, with DSP extensions and Floating-Point Unit (FPU); and a single-core RISC-V Low-Power (LP) processor at 40MHz. The HP system features 768KB on-chip L2 Memory (L2MEM) , while the LP system includes 32KB LP SRAM and 8KB Tightly Coupled Memory (TCM) . The ESP32-P4 WIFI6 Development Board includes 128KB HP ROM and 16KB LP ROM.

Large Storage Capacity: The ESP32-P4 WIFI6 Development Board features 32MB PSRAM stacked inside the chip package and 32MB Nor Flash integrated onboard (some versions integrate 16MB Nor Flash).

Wi-Fi 6 + Bluetooth 5 Wireless Connectivity (WiFi6 version): The ESP32-P4 WIFI6 Development Board has an onboard ESP32-C6 module serving as a Wi-Fi 6 co-processor, supporting Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5 (LE) wireless protocols.

Powerful Image and Voice Processing: The ESP32-P4 WIFI6 Development Board integrates JPEG CodecPixel Processing Accelerator (PPA) , Image Signal Processor (ISP) , and H264 video encoder (supporting 1080P @30fps). The ESP32-P4 WIFI6 Development Board supports H.264 & JPEG video encoding. It also features an onboard MIPI-CSI camera interface (2-lane) compatible with OV5647 and other cameras, and an onboard MIPI-DSI display interface (2-lane).

Rich Expansion Interfaces: The ESP32-P4 WIFI6 Development Board includes an onboard 40PIN GPIO expansion header (2.54mm pitch) exposing 27-28 programmable GPIOs. The ESP32-P4 WIFI6 Development Board supports SPI, I2S, I2C, LED PWM, MCPWM, RMT, ADC, UART, TWAI and other common peripherals. It also supports USB OTG 2.0 HS high-speed connectivity. Some versions include an onboard Gigabit Ethernet interface (RJ45) . The ESP32-P4 WIFI6 Development Board also features a Micro SD card slot (SDIO 3.0), onboard microphone and speaker terminals, and a Type-C port for power and programming.

Enterprise-Grade Security: The ESP32-P4 WIFI6 Development Board supports Secure BootFlash Encryptionhardware cryptographic accelerators, and True Random Number Generator (TRNG) . It features hardware access protection (APM) and privilege separation. The ESP32-P4 WIFI6 Development Board's ESP32-P4 chip integrates a Digital Signature Peripheral and dedicated Key Management Unit.
