Why Choose Nuvoton

Nuvoton‘s core strengths lie in its deep microcontroller technology heritage, comprehensive analog and digital integration capabilities, and full-chain layout from chips to system-level solutions.

In microcontrollers (MCUs) , Nuvoton is Asia’s first supplier to launch 32-bit Arm Cortex-M0 and M4 MCUs, and the world‘s second to release Cortex-M0, just one month after NXP. Its NuMicro® brand MCU product line, centered on Cortex-M0 and M4, covers complete core architectures including 8051, Cortex-M0, Cortex-M23, Cortex-M4, and Arm9. Among them, the Cortex-M0 series ranks first in Asia in sales, with cumulative shipments exceeding 100 million units. The mainstream M031/M032 series integrates a Cortex-M0 core running up to 72MHz, supporting 16-512KB Flash, 2-96KB SRAM, packages from 20 to 128 pins, and operating voltages from 1.8V to 3.6V. The high-performance M480 series features a 192MHz Cortex-M4 core, supporting up to 2.5MB Flash and 512KB SRAM, with built-in Ethernet, hardware encryption engines (AES, ECC, SHA, HMAC), USB HS OTG, and up to 24 PWM channels, meeting the high-end demands of industrial control, IoT, and motor control. The automotive-grade M2A23 series supports up to three CAN FD interfaces, operates stably in environments up to 125°C, and has obtained AEC-Q100 Grade 1 certification, suitable for smart car lighting, body control, and industrial automation.

In power management ICs, Nuvoton’s industrial battery monitoring ICs utilize high-resolution ADCs to precisely measure battery voltage, temperature, and current, achieving voltage measurement accuracy of ±2.9mV with power consumption less than one-tenth that of conventional models. The flagship KA49701A/KA49702A products support 17-cell monitoring for 48V batteries, integrating all battery system functions on a single chip without external switches or voltage conversion components, greatly simplifying system design. The battery monitoring IC has achieved first mass production shipments to a US automotive manufacturer.

In touch solutions, Nuvoton‘s NuMicro® MCU series features capacitive touch key technology, delivering waterproof, noise-resistant, and highly sensitive touch experiences. The M258 series supports up to 24 touch channels, while the ML56 series supports up to 14 touch keys with built-in 8 COM×44 SEG LCD drivers, featuring waterproof and noise-resistant capabilities. Its waterproof capacitive touch technology enables normal operation with wet hands and up to 2mm of accumulated water, with high touch sensitivity and strong anti-interference capability. The company also provides the NuSenadj capacitive touch solution tuning tool, which automatically adjusts parameters and exports them for replication to other development boards, significantly shortening development cycles.

In memory products, Nuvoton’s M2L31 series MCU utilizes innovative ReRAM (Resistive RAM) as on-chip non-volatile storage, supporting 64-512KB ReRAM and 40-168KB SRAM, with operating voltages from 1.71V to 3.6V and operating temperatures from -40°C to 105°C, providing high-performance, low-power storage solutions for embedded applications. The company also offers embedded Flash product lines covering application program memory (APROM) from 32KB to 512KB and system programming load program memory (LDROM).

In human-machine interface (HMI) solutions, Nuvoton provides a complete MCU/MPU platform from low-end to high-end, covering M0, M4, and Arm9 series, supporting various panel sizes from 3.5 to 7 inches with i80 mode and RGB interface compatibility. The company offers free-to-use SEGGER emWin graphics libraries and LVGL graphics libraries, paired with the SEGGER AppWizard tool, helping designers easily create professional embedded GUI interfaces. Additionally, Nuvoton’s Japan subsidiary has developed HMI-ICs with ISP/DSP as core technology, which have been adopted by a major Chinese automotive manufacturer for automotive HMI applications including head-up displays (HUD) and digital rearview mirrors.
